Holiday Entertainment Part 2

Posted by Phil Rodgers in Things to Do

In our last post, we introduced you to just a few of the many music theaters in the Smokies that are offering themed holiday entertainment to celebrate the Christmas season. But in hindsight, we realize we only scratched the surface of what's available when it comes to nightlife in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. So in the spirit of giving, we're back with a few more Smoky Mountain venues that, collectively, offer a wide variety of stage productions. Consider any of these destinations the perfect end to a perfect day in the Smokies - which could also include a visit to Goats on the Roof in Pigeon Forge.

See a Christmas Show in the Smokies

Christmas at Country Tonite Theatre – Running through the end of the year, this popular Pigeon Forge theater has once again pulled out all the stops for the holiday, putting together a Christmas show during which the magic of the season comes alive. Everything is holiday-themed, from the costumes and choreography to the sets and, of course, the music. In addition to the regular cast of singers, dancers, musicians and comedians, enjoy guest visits from characters such as Frosty the Snowman, Santa Claus and the Sugar Plum Fairy.

Hatfield McCoy Family Feud Christmas Disaster Dinner Show – Here's another Pigeon Forge show that you can catch until December 31. In this case, there's an added bonus - dinner! The show itself is a competition-based production, based on the legendary feud between the Hatfield and McCoy families of West Virginia. In this take on the classic story, family members try to set aside their differences in the spirit of the season, and the two clans ultimately come together for a night fun, food and entertainment. Along the way, you'll see cast members perform feats of strength (just like Festivus!), amazing stunts and side-splitting comedy routines. And yes, we did mention dinner. The belly-buster of a meal consists of fried chicken, pulled-pork barbecue, mashed potatoes, cole slaw, biscuits, corn on the cob, creamy vegetable soup and a special dessert.

Biblical Times Dinner Theater – This production taps into the true meaning of the holiday with a Bible-based story that's sure to induce joy and warm hearts. Audiences will learn the story of Jesus and his birth, highlighted by classic Christmas carols, state-of-the-art technology and a talented cast of performers. And this is another show where dinner is included in the ticket price. The meal features a multicourse feast that is guaranteed to satisfy the ol' taste buds.

Dollywood – Don't forget that Dollywood has its own lineup of Christmas- and holiday-themed shows taking place at multiple venues throughout the theme park. The headline show, Christmas in the Smokies, has been a favorite since 1990, and guests will have their choice of many others, both classic and new. Titles include 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, O Holy Night, Christmas with the Kingdom Heirs, Heart of the Holidays, Candlelight Carolers, The Mistletones, Appalachian Christmas with the Smoky Mountain String Band, Holiday Wild Roots and more. Of course, that's just some what you'll find at Dollywood during Christmas, but the holiday productions really capture the essence of the season.

And as we mentioned, we hope you'll also find some time to swing by Goats on the Roof, one of Pigeon Forge's truly unique attractions. We have live goats to visit with and feed, not to mention fun activities like an alpine coaster, gem mining and miniature golf. We also have a store that carries an intriguing variety of handmade gift items. So if you're still stuck trying to wrap up your Christmas shopping, stop in and discover one-of-a-kind treasures that will make someone's holiday season just a little more special.
