Whether you're thinking about visiting the Great Smoky Mountains this spring or even this summer or fall, it's not too early to start planning your trip. It's always a good idea to make lodging reservations well in advance, and if you have to arrange for a rental car or alternative transportation while you're here, it's probably a good idea to get going on that as well.
But there are lots of other things that go into a Smoky Mountain vacation, including attractions, restaurants and shops. Those don't require a lot of advance prep (unless you want to go ahead and buy tickets to music theater shows or some of the bigger attractions), but there's still so much to choose from in terms of those kinds of businesses that picking out just a few can be overwhelming. So it's probably not too early to start ruling some things out and deciding what you and your family would enjoy doing most.
If you've been to the Smokies in recent years, you probably have some idea of what's to be discovered in Pigeon Forge, Sevierville and Gatlinburg. But whether you're new to the Smokies or even a regular visitor, there will still be some brand-new things for you to explore, and we're going to share a few of them with you this month to help give you a better idea of what to expect on that next vacation.
This new show is making its debut this year at SkyLand Ranch, a $40 million entertainment venue in Sevierville. The attraction features a scenic chairlift ride to the SkyLand Ranch location, a 100-acre farm, and it offers spectacular views of the Smokies as well as retail shops, eateries, live entertainment, rides and interactive experiences with live animals.
This is a new attraction brought to you by the creative team behind the Anakeesta theme park in Gatlinburg. This 900-acre wilderness is just minutes from Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and offers a range of activities for adventurers of all ages and levels of daring. Wildside features guided UTV tours, mountain biking trails, e-bike rentals and more. Look for it this summer!
Downtown Sevierville already has a lot of great dining options, and this recently opened eatery is no exception. It's a 1940s-style soda fountain and ice cream shop that should be a great place to stop in and cool off with frozen treats, especially as summer sets in.
This Sevierville attraction just opened a month or so ago, bringing a unique experience for all ages to the Smokies. Guests to operate real construction equipment, including back hoes and forklifts. There's heavy equipment there for all ages, and it's a safe, fun environment.
The water parks at Wilderness at the Smokies in Sevierville continue to expand every year, and 2024 is no exception. Kaleidoscope is a lazy river tunnel where guests are surrounded by a kaleidoscopic light show. The company that created this attraction is the same one that created the Astra Lumina light experience at Anakeesta.
Parkside Resort in Pigeon Forge will be unveiling a new luxury tepee village this summer. It should be a fun way to blend comfort with rustic amenities.
Now open on the Parkway in Pigeon Forge, this attraction is an epic mini-golf adventure that will take guests through a mysterious undersea world.
This is our newest attraction at Goats on the Roof! Come play two 18-hole mini golf courses that will immerse you in the world of dinosaurs. Just make sure our giant T-rex doesn't sneak up behind you while you're playing…
